Sinn Féin representative Toiréasa Ferris today welcomed the extension of the “Dial to Stop Drug Dealing” initiative to Limerick. She said that in the few weeks since it was introduced to Kerry and Cork it has already proved effective. Toireasa Ferris said: “I am glad to see that the government has at last introduced the “Dial to Stop Drug Dealing” initiative to Limerick. We in Sinn Féin and in particular my colleague, Maurice Quinlivan, have been campaigning for this for some time” “Limerick, unfortunately like all our major urban centres, is a victim of drug crime. The “Dial to Stop Drug Dealing” initiative is one element of the community’s ability to fight back against the dealers.” “In the short time it has been active in Kerry and Cork over 200 calls have led to 65 hard pieces of information being passed on to the authorities.” “I am sure that as it takes off in Limerick it will soon become an essential element in the fight back against drug criminals" |
